On Friday, Jan. 18, Varsity girls basketball will be playing one of their biggest rivals, Francis Howell Central. The game will be at North and begin at 5:30 p.m.
“The game on Friday should be an evenly matched game,” Junior Madison Gillam said. “We will have to play our best.”
Since the two teams are very close in skill level, the 11 girls are going to have to give it their all.
“It will be a tough game, but I think we will get the win,” Junior Paige Pauley said.
Friday will be the first time the teams face each other this season.
“It will be intense because it’s against a high school in our district,” Gillam said.
According to Gillam, North lost to Central last year in regular season and at districts. However, both games were very close and their leading scorer didn’t score as much as she usually did.
The girls on the team have been practicing hard for this. Sometimes, they even practice six days a week. Players are confident they can pull off another win.
“I’m excited because it’s always fun playing a rival team,” Senior Morgan May said. “ I think we will do well and all play hard.”
Head coach Matt Watson is also looking forward to beating FHC.
“I think we will do very well against them,” Watson said.
