Tuesday, Feb. 5, StuCo hosted the Winter Warm-Up. Radio hosts Mason and Remy from 93.7 The Bull made an appearance that caused a successful turnout according to StuCo members Zach Ksiazek and Ashley Flerlage.
StuCo stood out in the cold in summer clothing and waited for clothing donations from people around the community. The clothing donations for the Crisis Nursery were then put on by the participants in order to warm up.
“It gets the community to come out and donate clothes,” Ksiazek said. “I like that we’re donating the clothes to people that need them.”
Local radio hosts, Mason and Remy were helping to bring in donations by hanging around the fires, chatting, playing games and taking pictures with the students.
“Seeing the passion the students have for the community is great,” Remy said.
As the night progressed, more students showed up, hung around and played volleyball while they were waiting for the Varsity basketball game against Timberland that started at 7 p.m.
“The best part of the Winter Warm-Up is waiting for the basketball games and cheering on the teams,” sophomore Blake Cox said.
StuCo brought in about two car fulls of clothing.
“It was the best Winter Warm-Up we’ve had,” Flerlage said. “We’ve gotten more clothes than ever before.”
