Being down by four at halftime, the Varsity Knights lost sight of their lead and could not come back resulting in a 53 – 71 loss against the Howell Central on Feb. 12, the Spartans’ Senior Night.
“Central had a ton of momentum going into the game because it was their Senior Night, and all of the Central fans were hyped up,” point guard Callen Hall said.
In the first quarter, the Knights had a total of 15 points with guard Derrick Scarborough contributing 11, but for the rest of the game the team struggled in putting up points.
“Derrick led the team in points and stepped up on the offensive side of the ball,”power forward Collin Toedtmann said.
North had 26 turnovers throughout the game which played a major factor in the loss.
“Overall, we didn’t play great defense which killed us,” Toedtmann said. “We were undersized, so we need to secure the ball better and get good box outs so we can maintain possession.”
The Knights’ next game will be a rematch against Parkway North, but this time it will be North’s Senior Night.
“We had good execution and good defense in the first half but in the second half they had the lead and we went into panic mode which is the best excuse why we lose games,” Hall said.
“Hopefully, all of our fans can come out on Senior Night to come out and support us and our seniors to help us out to make this win even more special,” Hall said.
