The annual St. Charles Area FCA Friends Dinner took place on Feb. 12 at the Columns Banquet Center. This dinner is held every year in February to raise funds to support the staff in the St. Charles area and to get the word out about FCA. The event had a live and silent auction and several speakers including Adam Timmerman, former St. Louis Rams player; Amy Coffelt, former huddle coach at Bryan Middle School; and 16 high school students.
“Having speakers is one of the most important parts,” St. Charles Area FCA field associate Becky Moran said. “Everyone says it is their favorite part and we want adults that are investing to have the testimonies and stories of the students and that their investment is making a difference in the students’ lives.”
Students from the St. Charles five-county area including: St. Charles County, Lincoln County, Pike County, Montgomery County and Warren County each gave their testimonies to two tables at the event to explain how FCA has been part of their lives. Moran and the area director Derrill Martin worked together to choose the 16 students to speak at the FCA Friends Dinner.
“I talked about how I got involved in FCA and the activities that we have been doing on our campus and through the community,” senior Sarah Creeley said.
Creeley has been a part of FCA since freshman year and this was her second year speaking at the FCA Friends Dinner. According to Moran, Creeley has made a huge impact on FCA.
“Sarah is outstanding and has such a presence about her. She gives respect and admiration to everyone around her,” Moran said. “She isn’t afraid to stand up for the underdogs, she wants what’s right, and she has such a great sense of justice.”
