The Varsity Lady Knights lost to Howell Central last night on Feb. 12. The game was battle back and forth throughout the whole game but the girls ended up losing 50-54.
“We didn’t play well, we started off strong but didn’t finish the game,” junior Kaitlin Isbell said.
The girls started out strong with leading six-three, three minutes into the game. At 3:15 left in the first Central took the lead and held the lead until the end of the first quarter with a score of 12-13. Two minutes into the second quarter Isbell made a three to give the knights a 15-13 lead.
“Making that shot was pretty cool,” Isbell said “but I knew we still had a lot more to do.”
Both teams fought fiercely for the lead but the North girls were losing 19-23 at the end of half. Right at the beginning of the second half North made a three to bring the game within one point. But Central fought back going on an 7-0 run taking a 22-30 lead. At the end of the third quarter junior Paige Pauley made a layup buzzer beater to tie the game at 36.
“That helped us alot, it tied us up with them to reinsure that we were still in the game,” junior Annelise Arger said.
For the first three minutes of the fourth quarter the game was fought back and forth until Central took a lead 41-47. Senior Hali Long brought the game back within one after scoring five straight points in a row. They tried making a comeback but were not able to and lost the game with a final of 50-54.
“We could have beaten them because we had a lot more in us,” Arger said.
