Every year students are able to tryout and perform in the annual North Street Coffeehouse, now called North Street. The purpose of North Street is to recognize students for their talents by performing for English classes that have been invited to watch the performances. North Street will last for two days with different groups of students performing each day. North Street will be held in the Learning Commons and drinks will be served to enlighten the ‘coffee house’ feel.
Junior Emily Klein will be singing Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen and playing piano in the North Street performance.
“I hope this year goes a lot more smoothly, the wrestling room smelt like dirty socks [last year], I’m glad it’s back in the library,” Klein said.
This will be Klein’s second year performing in North Street where she has sang and played piano both years.
Senior Matt Miller will be performing with his band this year. The band is called Under the Arch and will be singing an original song called, “Gasoline”. This is Miller’s third year performing in the show.
“I’m excited to perform my own song with my band and share my own music [during North Street],” Miller said.
Another performer is sophomore Lauren Tenenbaum who will be singing “Titanium” by David Guetta ft. Sia. Tenenbaum has been preparing herself for the performance by practicing a lot and hoping for the best.
“I like that [North Street] is a way for students to show their talents to the school and it’s a cool way to see what everyone is capable of,” Tenenbaum said.
North Street will be Feb. 21-22 during the school day. Emily, Matt, and Lauren will be performing including all the other students that will be showing off their natural talents.
