The Speech team attended a competition at 3:00p.m. on Feb.19 at Wentzville Holt High School. The competition was considerably small inrison to others they have attended this year. Howell was the only other school from FHSD that attended.
As a school, FHN placed second in sweepstakes. Sweepstakes is the team awards at the end of the competition. Three of FHN students placed. John Hallemeier placed 1st in humorous interpretation. Molly Kube placed 1st in prose. Gabby Jones placed 3rd in poetry.
‘’I was standing on stage for the award ceremony with a dolphin, stroking it because I was nervous, when they announced ‘2nd’ it was the best moment of my life,” senior John Hallemeier said. “When they announced 1st I was in heaven.”
This competition was for Speech only. Less people placed than what is typical for the team at this competition. According to Breana Reilek, it was pretty intense and the judges were pretty picky.
‘‘Well even though not a lot of people placed I think we did really good,” Reilek, who has been involved with Speech and Debate for a year, said.
