All About Paws Rescue based out of Bridgeton, Mo was founded by Kim King and Alex Moore in January 2011. All About Paws is a non-profit organization that helps dogs find their forever home. They raise money by fundraising, donations and adoption fees.
“We started this rescue because of our love for animals and their need to be saved from neglect and abuse. Shelters are full of adoptable dogs but because their in small towns and don’t have the space we take them so they don’t have to be put down,” King said.
All About Paws rescues most of their dogs from puppy mills and crowded shelters. A majority of them are strays.
“For me this rescue means saving lives one dog at a time,” King said.
On March 23, 2013 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. All About Paws hosted a meet and greet and a bake sale at PetCo on Mid Rivers to raise money for one of their rescue dogs Slinky. Slinky has to have a surgery on his jaw to remove a piece a metal and re-structure his jaw. The rescue volunteers made the treats for the bake sale and helped out at the event.
“It was a chance for people to come and meet the dogs in hopes they will be adopted, and find their forever home,” King said.
The event was a success according to King. They raised $260 from the bake sale, and two dogs, Tonka and Yoda, were adopted. If someone would like to adopt a dog, they need to fill out an application. Next is the home visit. During this home visit, King or Moore will determine whether the home is suitable for the dog.
In the first year, All About Paws had 65 dogs adopted and 106 in the second year. So far in 2013, they have had 30 dogs adopted.
