1. What is your name and position?

My name is Taha, manager.

2. When did you open and what made you decide to?

We opened in March of 2012. We wanted to bring better frozen yogurt to St. Charles.

3. Is this the only Colors Frozen Yogurt? Is it family-owned?

At the moment yes, it’s the only one but we are planning on opening one or two more stores. No it is not family-owned, just one guy who decided to open up a shop.

4. What age group comes here most frequently?

It depends on the time of the day. In the morning we get a lot of kids and a lot of parents. At night we get a lot of teenagers and there’s a lot of Lindenwood kids that come.  So it definitely varies, we even get quite a few elderly people.

5. How healthy do you consider your store?

It’s really healthy. It’s about 80 calories per half cup. Most of our flavors are between 65 and 75, we try to keep it under 100 calories. Then the toppings depend on the person.

6. How often do your flavors change and how are they chosen?

We change at least two a week. I get to choose the flavors out of a booklet. During Christmas we have flavors like gingerbread and cinnamon roll. During summer we have a lot more fruity flavors like apple and blackberry. The customers can pick too, they can give suggestions and I can order it and tell them when I’ll have it available.

7. Describe the atmosphere of this store.

The atmosphere is very laid back. We’re one of the biggest ones in St. Louis. We have the most floor space. A lot of people come here to study because its quiet during the day. Then at night it can get pretty crazy but it’s really fun. We turn the music up and everyone just relaxes.

8. What is your most popular flavor?

Besides vanilla and chocolate, cake. We always have some sort of cake whether its wedding cake, yellow cake or cupcake. There’s always some sort of cake flavor, and even that’s healthier than most yogurt places.

9. What is the best part of managing this shop?

I like being responsible for everything. I get to talk a lot to customers. I love all the different people that come in. Everyone’s got a different story, so it’s always fun to talk to people.

10. What sets Colors apart from other frozen yogurt places?

Customer service. We always listen to the customer. If someone wants something special, we’ll get it. Like for a while someone wanted bananas. All summer this one guy wanted bananas. So all summer I bought bananas and he’d come in everyday and get them. We really care about our customers.
