The varsity baseball team hosted the Fort Zumwalt South Bulldogs on Friday, April 5th. After four straight hits allowed by North’s starting pitcher Steven Deckard to start the game by the Bulldogs, the score was 2-0. In the top of the 2nd inning, a single, a passed ball, a double to the wall, a walk and a HBP got the bases loaded all contributed to two runs to bring the score to 4-0 in favor of FZS. In the bottom of the 4th, North tried to start a rally by loading the bases on a leadoff double by Tyler Ferguson, David Prost being hit by a pitch, and a Jeremy Warden single to load the bases with no outs. What followed was three straight outs including two strikeouts. After a few hits and walks the score was 7-0 by the bottom of the 5th. In the top of the 6th, right fielder Brandon DeClue attempted to dive and catch a ball, but only got a bloody nose after the play was over. After being checked out by Coach Dunahue, Declue stayed in the game. When the bottom of the 7th came, the Knights couldn’t put anything together, ending the game by going down three in a row.
