This Friday, April 12th, during lunches, students will have the opportunity to vote on their StuCo leaders for the upcoming 2013-14 year. Students who participate vote in booths during their lunch hour and have their name marked off of a list of students in order to prevent them from voting twice. Anyone who votes will receive candy as an incentive to participate.
“Voting is cool because it allows us to elect someone to represent us as a student body,” sophomore Austin Polhamus said.
The students voting will choose who they think is the best candidate for each officer position. The candidates for each spot are Rowan Pugh as President, Krista Burris as VP, Sean Pirrone as Secretary, Mary Jane Ruis as Treasurer Abigail Griffin as Chief of Staff, and Kaitlin Eifert as Parliamentarian.
“I really like knowing that I’m part of a club that does so many great things for our community because many of our events go toward charities,” junior and StuCo presidential candidate Rowan Pugh said.
While most people who are running for an officer position have no competition they will still have to have a certain percentage of people vote for them, but not everyone wants to vote.
“I don’t care,” sophomore Jacob Coerver said. “What importance does it have?”
