Saturday, April 27, marks the annual Saturday Knight Live performed by students here at Howell North.
“I’m excited because I always wanted to be on SNL since I was a little kid,” freshman Andrew Stoker said.
Saturday Knight Live is a performance done by fellow students, making humor of the people, activities, and events that go on at North. Students submit their own scripts and ideas from themselves, or sketches from the original TV show Saturday Night Live. Students then get it tweaked and approved by director and drama teacher Jeffery Tandler, and are limited to a week of rehearsal time to prepare for their sketches on Saturday night.
“We only have one week until it runs, so compared to other shows we do, it’s really fast paced, so we got to keep up,” sophomore and performer Collin Witte said. “It is such a short-lived experience to put this together, so you only get a week to enjoy it.”
Tickets will be sold at lunch from Wednesday, April 24 through Friday, April 26 for $5. Tickets will also be sold at the door for the same price. Doors open up at 6:30 and the show starts at 7.
“I’m hoping it will be popular because of how good our actors were in High School Musical and SNL is a popular show,” Witte said. “I’m confident we’ll sell a lot of tickets.
Around 40 students will act in multiple sketches in the show. Many students are doing the show for the first time, due to a cancellation last year. Actors are expected to have memorize the lines on Wednesday and be prepared by Thursday to get on stage and put on a show.
“It hasn’t been done for a while,” Tandler said. “It’s just a fun way to end the year on a positive note”.
