With the annual KOE picnic quickly approaching, members are rushing to complete the finishing touches to make the day run smoothly. The picnic is held every year towards the end to celebrate the end of the school year and student accomplishments.
“We still need to have all the teachers hand out invitations and make sure the inflatable company is ready to go,” senior and KOE team leader Victoria Miller said.
The picnic is a day dedicated to the students at FHN. Students who have been involved in Honor Roll, Student of the Week, Mentor Program, Success Leader, or Knights of the Round Table are invited to come to the football field during sixth and seventh hour to enjoy hot dogs, ice cream and inflatables.
“We love doing the picnic because it rewards awesome students, who deserve to be recognized,” KOE sponsor Lindsey Scheller said.
In preparation for the picnic members of KOE had to make many important decisions that impacted the whole picnic.
“We had to decide on the t-shirts, invitations, stickers, food and inflatables,” Miller said. “We have been planning since last year so I just want everything to run smoothly.”
Last year the picnic was cancelled due to bad weather, causing the club to waste $5,000 on inflatables that the students were not able to be used. Students this year are hopeful the weather holds out and stays clear for the festivities.
“I hope the weather stays nice, last year we didn’t get to go and many of my friends were looking forward to it since we had gone every year so far,” senior Julie Ingoldsby said. “My favorite part of the picnic is always the inflatables, it’s fun to let loose with my friends during the school day.”
