Senior Jonathan Schwab broke the school record in the 300 meter hurdles on Friday, April 19. With support from his family, coaches, other people on the track team and hard work and dedication Schwab now holds the school’s record for this event.
“It has been my goal to break this record for a while now,” Schwab said,” Now I want to keep improving my time and break my own record.”
Schwab feels that what motivated him to accomplish his goal of setting a school record was those around him always pushing him to do better and those who cheered him on and supported him. Since breaking the record, Schwab feels a sense of responsibility to help other people that compete in the same event as him to get better.
“I feel like a leader now and I feel I can help a lot by giving them tips and advice to help to make them better,” Schwab said.
Varsity Sprinter D.J Curtis thinks Schwab’s accomplishment will inspire FHN’s track team as a whole.
“I think this is great for the team,” Curtis said “ I think Schwab has inspired the team to do succeed and be better as a team,” Curtis said.
