JV boys volleyball will compete in the Gateway Athletic Conference (GAC) tournament Saturday, May 4. The tournament will be held at North and will begin at 9 in the morning, where the team will play against Fort Zumwalt West and after, they will battle Fort Zumwalt North at 11 a.m.
“I think we’re going to do good,” junior middle hitter Ethan Bond said. “They’re two teams we’ve beaten in the past and we’re planning on beating them again.”
GAC’s are held to see who is the best team in the conference. According to junior defensive specialist, Jimmy Higgins, GAC’s are like the end of the season playoffs.
“Everybody in GACs is a tough team and you really have to play your best volleyball to beat every team,” junior middle hitter Josh Carpenter said.
The boys have been preparing themselves in practices by working on their chemistry as a team on the court and trying to correct their errors from past games.
“We need to stay together as a team, work through our mistakes, have good communication, and play our game,” Higgins said.
If the team does well in the matches they will get to compete in the championship game at noon.
“I think if we play our best volleyball neither of those teams have a chance of staying with us in the game,” Carpenter said.
