On Thursday, August 15, FHN Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), held their first official meeting at Laurel Park. The kickoff included food, fellowship, and fun. FCA is a place where students and athletes of the Christian faith can gather together and share their beliefs while making new personal relationships with other students their age. This year’s kickoff attracted over 60 students, more than the turnout at previous kickoff. They hope to keep attendance up throughout the year by personally inviting people and by letting everyone know that they are welcome.

“FCA is a place where if you want to hang out with friends and want to have a relationship with the Lord, or you want to find out more about him you can,” Junior Huddle Leader Joe Lodes said. “It’s a place where you can come and won’t be judged for wanting to learn more about it and meet new people who can help you if you want to accept Jesus Christ as your savior.”

After last year’s Huddle Coach, Heather Box, stepped down, Huddle Coach Amy Coffelt took her place. Coffelt was the FCA Huddle Coach at Bryan Middle school for five years before moving to North.

“[Coffelt] really knows what she’s doing,” Senior Huddle Leader Tiffany Metts said. “She has such a passion for Christ and that shines through in everything that she does. She loves being at our school and is organized.”

With the new Huddle Coach, members are hoping for new, fresh ideas to hopefully bring more people into the club.

“ I’m looking forward to seeing students grow closer to each other but also to grow closer to God,” Coffelt said. “I absolutely think that this year is going to be a pretty good year.”
