ACT sign up for the September 21 test is open until this Friday, August 23. After this ACT test date, there are five more test dates scheduled from now until the final test date on June 14, 2014, over the summer. The dates and deadlines for each of the sign ups can be found in the counseling office or on the registration site actstudent.org. They are September 21, October 26, and December 14, 2013. The 2014 dates are February 8. April 12, and June 14.
“I would recommend all Juniors to take the ACT for the fall of junior year,” Counselor Ann Herman said. ” They can pick up the Cambridge Review [in the guidance office], or take the ACT Prep class to get ready for the test.”
One way to help improve scores on the ACT is the ACT prep class. There are two different programs the school offers to get students prepped for the test. They can take the class during the school day, or go to the Cambridge Review.
“The class allowed me to practice for the ACT more than I would have on my own,” ACT Prep senior Gabby Imperial said.
The next class for the Cambridge program will start on October 24, and continue for eight weeks, until the test taking place on December 14. The cost for the class is $150, including textbooks that can be kept after the class ends. Sign up will continue until the class is full. The max number of students allowed to take the class at one time is thirty. Priority will be given to seniors who sign up for the class.
“Patty Bartell and Diane Fingers sponsor the Cambridge review,” Guidance Department Chair Lisa Woodrum said. “This is a National program where we hope to increase students’ ACT scores.”
