On August 28, the softball season starts off with the Parkway Tournament. The team has high hopes to improve from last year after falling short of a .500 winning percentage. With only losing two seniors from last year the veteran upcoming seniors feel like they are in the best position to exceed last year’s record.
“This will be a very promising season after all of the work we’ve put into it,” left fielder, Abigail Griffin said. “We are always striving for state.”
The team has a good line up with many upcoming seniors stepping up in the offseason. Many girls played club ball over the summer which has prepared them for this high school season.
“We have a very fast lineup which will help us a lot when games are decided on game changing plays on offense and defense,” shortstop, Jessie Moceri said. “Also, we have really strong at bats which is always good to have.”
This year, the team has more depth in their pitching rotation compared to last year. With more pitchers, others are able to rest up so they are fresh for the next games.
“With a strong pitching core, there is no doubt we can exceed last year’s record and go deep into the postseason.” Griffin said.
With all of the returning varsity players, and hard nosed practices the team has had. They believe that this is their year to exceed expectations.
“We are stacked!” Moceri said. ‘This is our season to win it all.”
