Sophomore center-fielder Austine Pauley has started the season out with a bang hitting a .714 average with eight RBI’s over a three game span. The Lady Knights Varsity softball team opened up the season with a three game parkway tournament in which they won their first game in eight innings, but lost their next two.
“We did alright,” said Pauley. “I think we could have done better. We kind of gave up.”
Pauley went four for four in Thursday’s game against Zumwalt West. Despite having three doubles and driving in four runs, the Lady Knights lost 9-10 bringing their record to 1-2.
“I could have done better, hit it over the fence, but I think practices with my family after school practices have really helped,” said Pauley.
Pauley hopes to continue at this pace as the Lady Knights play their home opener on Sept. 3 against Zumwalt South.
“I think we could do really good if we can pick it up,” said Pauley.
