Varsity Girls Cross Country
After the Forest Park Cross Country Festival last Saturday, the Varsity and JV Boys’ teams took second place. The Girls’ teams did not place; however, the girls were also in a harder division. According to senior Courtney Vishy the team needs to work on hills because Cross Country’s next meet is Sioux Passage which is one of the hilliest courses. Vishy said it will be hard because half of the team won’t be there due to ACT testing, but those who do attend the meet will do well because FHN’s team trains on hills more often than other schools.
Sam Neely (Freshman)
Freshman Football
Sam Neely, who plays on freshman Football, feels that the team did not play the best it could, but the boys did well against FZS. The boys took home a win, completing a full sweep against FZS by the freshman, JV and Varsity teams. However, the boys are not done yet. According to Neely, the freshman Football team could work on offense and new plays will be introduced at practice. Neely believes that the team will win next Monday against FHHS because the boys will practice hard this week.
Crystal Webb (Senior)
Varsity Girls Volleyball
According to senior Crystal Webb, the Varsity Girls’ Volleyball team didn’t play as well as they could against Timberland last Thursday. She said that the girls won their first game, but some team members didn’t play as hard because they assumed the girls had already won the competition. Webb believes the girls need to not give up and play the whole game through next time. She also believes the team needs to keep practicing and working on the little things like defense and blocking in order to improve. She thinks that the game against FZW will be good because the team has been working hard since their last game.
Hannah Fetsch (Freshman)
Freshman Softball
Hannah Fetsch believes that the freshman Softball team did very well at their last game because they won against FHHS. She believes that the team only needs to work on playing the outfield. Fetsch thinks the team will do well against Timberland because the girls have been working on catching pop flies and fly balls.
Matthew Jewson (Freshman)
Boy’s Swimming
New swimmer Matthew Jewson believes the Boys’ Swimming team did much better at their last meet than they did in their first one. He believes that the team could improve in speed, but is doing pretty well for now. Jewson thinks the team will do well in their next meet because he believes in his teammates and thinks they will do well.
Abby Rapplean (Sophomore)
JV Girls Tennis
JV Girls’ Tennis player Abby Rapplean believes that the team’s last match against FZS went well because the girls won. Rapplean doesn’t believe there is more the girls could improve on other than just practicing as much as they can. She thinks the team will win at their next match against FZW because the girls work well together.
