Emcee Auditions were held on September 12 right after school, in rooms 130 and 133. Out of the 10 people that tried out to be this year’s Emcees, one boy and one girl were chosen. The two people chosen were Sofia Quintana and Joe Henke.
An Emcee is someone who performs the role of a master of ceremonies. Room 130 was used as a waiting area where those auditioning could read over the script and rehearse what they were going to say, before they entered for the auditions.
“I got really nervous, like, really nervous,” said senior Jessica Moceri. “Right before I went into the interview my hands got really clammy.”
The people who auditioned had to interview and be put into possible scenarios. They also had to read a small part of a script for the Pep Assembly to see how they would do during the real thing, and if they would add their own style to it.
“Ten people auditioned, and [out] of those ten people we pick two, usually a boy and a girl,” StuCo Secretary Sean Pirrone said. “And we pick by voice level, like how clear they speak, improvisation, and excitability.”
An Emcee is like a Master of Ceremonies, they are the one’s who carry around microphones and get the crowd pumped during the Pep Assembly, and keep the crowd under control at the same time.
“What makes a good Emcee is if they are really loud and excited easily and someone who isn’t afraid to embarrass themselves,” StuCo Cabinet member Nicole Morse said.
