On Monday, Sept. 30 through Oct 2 the girls Varsity Tennis team will be competing in their GAC’s tournament at Liberty Hopt high school starting at 7 a.m. each day.
“I think we’re [Varsity team] really good this year. We have had a lot of good freshman come in this year and it has really helped us out alot,” senior and varsity tennis player, Megan Oostendorp said.
The six girls competing are Risa Takenaka and Yuri Takenaka, Haley Braet, Kelsey Schaffrin, Oostendorp, and Emily Wilson. According to Oostendorp the team has been preparing together at practices during the week but they have also been putting in time by themselves on the weekend to be the best they can be.
“We’re feeling pretty confident as a team about how well do this week. freshman and varsity player, Haley Bradt said.
Last year the Varsity team placed second in their GAC tournament. According to Oostendorp it makes the team strive to be better and come in first this year.
“I think we will be pretty good this year and win most of our matches if we work hard. I think we’re hoping to go to state later on too,” Braet said.
According to sophomore and Varsity player, Emily Wilson, the team has been doing very well this year so far. Wilson says its always nice to have new faces at competitions.
“Hopefully this tournament will help us see how districts will go and we do well,” Wilson said.
