The girls varsity tennis team played in their GACs Monday, September 31st from 8 a.m to 3:30 p.m and Tuesday, September 1st from 8 a.m to 5:30 p.m at Liberty Holt.
“Everyone comes to GACs playing their hardest,” sophomore Emily Wilson said. “We try not to underestimate anyone.”
The girls said that their match against Francis Howell High School was their most challenging match both days because of the strong players they tend to have on their team.
“Howell was definitely our toughest competition, the match we played against them was the closest match we had all day,” sophomore Madi Oostendorp said.
Although the girls said they all had a great time playing their matches and loved missing two days of school, they also said it was kind of a pain because of all the make-up work their teachers gave them the next day when they returned to school.
“I mean I liked getting to miss two days of school to play tennis, but the make-up work kind of stinks,” Oostendorp said.
The girls said that they came ready to play and prepared for their matches.Overall they said they had a good two days as a team, some even brought home a first place medal.
“My favorite part was being with my team for two days and cheering each other on and also beating Fort Zumwalt South in the first round of doubles was pretty nice,” Wilson said.
