Parent teacher conferences were held last night, Tuesday, Oct. 8, and will be held again tonight, Wednesday, Oct.
9, from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This year, teachers gathered in the large gym and set up tables.
“Meeting in the gym makes sense and is easier for everyone,” English teacher Laura Kayser said. “Going to everyone’s classroom would get confusing.”
While in conferences, parents can speak with teachers about their students’ grades, behavior in classes, and other aspects of their school life.
“I usually focus on their grades, attentiveness in class, and their attendance,” math teacher Steve Willott said.
This year at parent teacher conferences, the times were changed by thirty minutes. According to Willott, the time change was due to all the teachers with young children who need to be picked up from school or the bus.
“I think conferences are a good thing but I wish they were earlier and also earlier in the year,” Willott said. “We need more time to get people caught up and let their parents know how they’re doing.”
