This past weekend Oct.12, the FHN Marching Band, Knightpride hosted a competition at Francis Howell North. The band the band did not perform in the competition, but they had an exhibition performance in which they received a score. They scored the highest out of all the bands that performed.
“The energy level was very high even though it was an exhibition performance.” Chris Steimel, band member said.
The competition contained five bands from all around St. Charles. The FHN band helped work concessions and helping other bands where needed. According to members of the band, they will be attempting to draw more schools to the competition in the coming years.
“I thought it was really fun to work at the competition rather than being in it for a change.” Kevin Balch, section leader of the front ensemble said. “It was also a lot more stress free because we didn’t have to worry about a score so we could focus more on having fun performing rather than improving on our last performance.”
The band’s next and final competition this season is going to be on October 26. The band will be performing at Francis Howell High School.
“I’m looking forward to kicking butt and just everyone leaving it on the field.” Sammie Savala, saxophone section leader said. “We have nothing to save it for, it’s our last chance.”
