The girls Varsity volleyball team played against Francis Howell High School on Tues, Oct. 22 from 7:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. at Francis Howell North.
“We refused to give up against Howell,” senior Danielle Dagenais said. “We didn’t give up as many serves.”
A lot of the players said that they kept pushing back against the Vikings, even though the team was down. Though FHHS is a strong long time rival, the girls kept fighting due to the motivation.
“It was the second to last home game for us,” senior Sofia Quintana said. “Which really motivated us to try our best out there.”
According to the girls on the team, the best play was freshman, Kate Dorhoff’s “fake set”.
“It was really cool,” explained Quintana. “She went up looking like she was going to set the ball but then quickly tipped the ball instead, throwing the other team off.”
The team tried their hardest against FHHS. However, according to the team, there were some mistakes that wasn’t their fault.
“The ref kept making bad calls,” Dagenais said. “When Jessica tipped the ball up and over the net, he called it a lift, giving Howell a point.”
Players have ideas on what they were going to improve on to do better in the next upcoming game they have.
“We need to not let as many balls drop on serves, also receives get more hits inbounds,” Quintana said. “Also we got to bring up the energy and play harder than we did tonight.”
