Thursday, Oct. 24 marked the last game before GAC’s for the JV knights volleyball team. At the home game, the knights went up against the Hazelwood West Wild Cats. The Knights won the game with the final score of 2:1. The first set was 27-25, the second set was 19:25, and the last set was 25:16.
“We had moments, there were times we played very aggressively but also had a few times where we had lapses and let up a bit. But the girls hung in there and never gave up. I was very pleased with the game.” JV Coach, Mary Hammann said.
According to the girls, they are happy about the win, but ready for the challenge that GAC’s will bring to them.
“I am excited for GAC’s, I am a little nervous but I’m ready for the challenge that the game will bring to us,” #1, Rachel Elder said.
The GAC’s will be a tournament style game at Francis Howell North. The knights will go up against 3 separate schools, Fort Zumwalt West, Francis Howell Central, and Timberland. The games will last majority of the game, and the first game will be at 9:15. Hammann is expecting the girls to do their best.
“ We are going to have play at the top of our game, the girls are going to have to bring their A game in order to make a good showing, there are some very good teams in the GAC’s this year,” Hammann said.
Winning the last game and having GAC’s really set the season for the girls.
“I’m happy with the season, although we still have few more games left, I couldn’t say I was more please with the season, it was really a lot of fun with my team,” #1, Julia Burke said.
