During the first week of November each school year, DECA holds a spirit week with
themed days that relate to DECA and what the club is all about.
“I like dressing up on spirit days for anything, but I like DECA week especially because I’m in the club,” senior Kelly D’Amico said.
Monday, Nov. 4, is Group/Couples Day. Students and staff are encouraged to dress up as if they are a famous couple, popular duo–such as peanut butter and jelly–or music group.
“Group Day is something new to DECA spirit week,” DECA sponsor Lori Moore said. “We’ll probably see a lot of One Direction shirts.”
Tuesday, Nov. 5, is CEO/Dress for Success Day. Students and staff are encouraged to wear suits, jackets, ties, slacks, dresses, etcetera. This day is a spirit week tradition and is usually very popular. Wednesday, Nov. 6, is Disney Day.
“You can dress up as a character from a Disney movie or just a princess or Mickey Mouse,” DECA member Autumn Lavezzi said.
Thursday, Nov. 7, is the day of the annual DECA Jumpoff, a basketball game between students of each grade and staff members. Participating students and teachers are encouraged to wear their shirts and people who are not playing can just wear their class color. Friday, Nov. 8, is DECA Diamond Day. This means students and staff should wear sparkly clothes, shiny shoes, and all their bling to show off their support for DECA.
“We really want to promote the club this year,” Moore said. “We want as many people to participate as possible.”
