Before the Knights first round sectional game against Howell Central senior forward Keegan Fouch won GAC’s highest honor and recieved GAC Player of The Year.
Fouch led the offense of the varsity Knights soccer team with 15 goals, 3 assists, and 33 total points.
“It feels good to be honored,” Fouch said. “But I couldn’t have done it without my teammates.”
Fouch was crucial in the Knights late season surge when they won five of their last eight losing to central in the first round of sectionals with a score of 0-3 to cap off their season. The Knights ended with an overall record 8-15. Fouch was a scoring machine in districts posting four goals in two games; two in each. The Knights beat 6-18 Pattonville in the first round of districts 4-1 and ran through the 14-11 McCluer North with a score of 3-0 to obtain the soccer programs 18th district title and second consecutive title.
With the Knights winning districts they were to play rival Howell Central in the first round of sectionals. The Knights were trailing at half time with a score of 0-1. The Knights were unable to get anything started in the second half and gave up two late game goals. Central eventually won the game 0-3 and ended the Knights journey towards state.
“I thought we did pretty good in the first half. I was content with them having one goal at the end of the first,” Fouch said. “But we fell apart late.”
Fouch plans on pursuing soccer in his future and hopefully playing in college. He is still undecided yet on where he would like to play.
