This week, Drama Club is putting on “In-Laws, Outlaws, and Other Despicable
People,” a play about a dysfunctional family being taken hostage by robbers during the family’s annual Christmas Eve gathering. The club chose to put on this play because it has a large cast which allowed more people than usual to be involved.
“It’s a cute show and a total comedy,” junior Lauren Tenenbaum, a caroler in the play, said. “I think the audience is going to laugh a lot.”
The play stars sophomore Marissa Meyers as Beth, the main character, senior Mike Kuhl as Beth’s dad Thomas, and junior Stone Birkner as Beth’s elderly uncle Leo. According to Tenenbaum, “In-Laws, Outlaws, and Other Despicable People” is a true comedy at heart, full of hysterical moments.
“I think everyone is going to like the play a lot,” junior Jack Boden, a liquor store robber in the play, said. “It’s really, really funny.”
Since September, the Drama Club has spent countless hours practicing to make the play what it is. Boden believes it is going to be one of Drama Club’s best productions yet. The play is being performed at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21; Friday, Nov. 22; and Saturday, Nov. 23. Tickets are being sold for $6 at lunch at $7 at the door.
“The play is hilarious,” Boden said. “I know it’s going to be a big hit.”
