10. Trailer Park Boys
A mockumentary that follows two crazy Canadian friends who live in the same trailer park, Trailer Park Boys is definitely a weird show, so weird that it’s definitely hard for me to get into. It does has it’s humorous moments, though. But as I said, it’s definitely one of those shows that you know of but you never get into because you just don’t find it compelling enough. Don’t get me wrong though, it’s still a great show
9. Orange is the New Black
Orange is the New Black is one of the first few Netflix Originals, and it’s definitely a hit. If follows the life of Piper Chapman, a woman who was convicted and sent to prison for a crime she committed ten years before. It’s a great show, filled with some laughs and some really deep dramatic moments. At times it can be fairly graphic, but otherwise, it’s a great show.
8. Workaholics
One of Comedy Central’s newer hits, Workaholics gives views a look into the life of three friends who work together and live together. It’s a great show with tons of replayability, and it’s good to watch when you’re with other people. I definitely recommend it as the show to watch with your friends, or when you’re just bored.
7. Futurama
The great show by Simpsons creator Matt Groening is one of my favorites on Netflix. It’s an easy show that follows the adventures of an accidental time traveler, Philip J Fry, and his friends that he meets in the year 3000. It’s definitely one of my favorites.
6. Parks and Recreation
NBC is great at making comedies, that’s for sure, and with Parks and Rec, they’ve done an amazing job. Parks and Rec takes place in Pawnee, Indiana, and follows Leslie Knope and her cast of county officers and officials.
Overall, the show is filled in with laughs that aren’t uncommon in other NBC comedies, and you can easily jump into it at any episode.
5. Portlandia
One of my favorite sketch comedy shows, Portlandia stars SNL star Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein, and features a myriad series of outlandish sketches, mainly poking fun at the “hipster” sub culture of Portland. It’s another great show that’s somewhat all over the place, and I definitely recommend it.
4. The Office
NBC’s smash hit, The Office, has found its new home on Netflix. All of the show’s season are on there, and it makes for a great series to just binge through. It has it’s fair share of awkward moments and other things that can make viewers uncontrollably laugh for a long period of time. the only downside to the show is that you can’t really jump in at any time, but other than that, it’s an amazing show.
3. Freaks and Geeks
Freaks and Geeks, one of the few shows that was canceled too early for its own good, stars actors like James Franco and Seth Rogen before they were the blockbuster comedy actors. It’s a show that follows two very different (but still outcasted) groups of high school teens growing up in the 80’s. It’s a show that can be dramatic at times and still funny when necessary. It’s an all around type of show that evokes many feelings
2. Arrested Development
Another show that was canceled too soon, Arrested Development follows the wealthy Bluth family after their father was sent to prison and their assets were all frozen. It’s filled with the type of humor that enables you to watch the series multiple times and still find something new to laugh at.
1. Breaking Bad
Probably one of the most prolific TV shows of this generation, Breaking Bad follows a high school chemistry teacher who was diagnosed with cancer and now must make crystal meth to support his family. The show is very dramatic, dark, and heavy, but also pretty lighthearted at times. This show will definitely take you on an emotional roller coaster.
