The Knightpride band performed at the annual Francis Howell North winter concert on December 5th in the auditorium.
“My favorite song to play was ‘Nemesis’ because it was unique,” said sophomore percussionist Hannah Weber. “I also really enjoyed having the chance to perform my temple block solo.”
The band played “Nemesis”, “Variations of a Korean Folk song”, “Fairest of the Fair”, “America the Beautiful”, and “Shenandoah”. According to Weber, the band has prepared for this concerts through many hours of hard practice every day. They also spent a lot of time isolating sections they were having trouble with during class.
“I liked playing ‘Variations on a Korean Folk song’ because it was really hard to start out with but once we learned it, it was fun,” said sophomore flutist Rachel Leimkuhler. “It was rewarding to learn something hard and then be good at it.”
The band members performed again on December 7th for all state auditions and breakfast with santa. According to Weber, they are excited to continue practicing for the upcoming season. The Knightpride band will be playing as a pep band at basketball games throughout the season. They also have a ensemble competition in March that they are preparing for now.
