In June 2015 students of the graduating class who are 18 years or older will have the opportunity to take a trip to europe. On this trip sponsored by history teacher Mike Parker students will get to go to paris, Barcelona , French Riviera, Monaco, Florence, Pisa, Rome and Pompeii where they experience different cultures and see the things they’ve learned about in history classes.
“It’s easy for me to relate things back to what they’ve [the students] learned being a history teacher. I use things I’ve seen there from World War One and Two and they are able to see the things they’ve learned about.” Mike Parker said.
Students will be in Europe for 16 days and get to experience many things in various cultures including the Eiffel Tower, Colosseum, Leaning Tower of Pisa and visiting the beach.
“I plan on having a lot of fun and taking in new cultures and adding different lifestyles to my life in college,” junior Logan Coombs said.
The trip will be sometime in June 2015 about three days after graduation. The trip will cost four thousand four hundred dollars which may cause a problem for some students hoping to go, many of which have to pay for a good portion of it themselves.
“My initial reaction was ‘Oh this sounds really cool.’ and then I heard the price,” junior Jack Boden said. “It’d be a lot easier for students to go if they set up some sort of student aid or loan from the school.”
Although this price may seem like high it is actually discounted from if one were to do it on their own. The cost of the trip includes airfare, hotels, meals, tours, sightseeing and entrances to monuments. For more information see Mike Parker.
“Students that go need to be at least 18, do some research and make sure they’re interested, meet with me to get the information, and they must be responsible.” Parker said.
