This afternoon in 7th hour, publications adviser Aaron Manfull won a $1,000 award and was acknowledged by Peabody Energy as
a Leader in Education. FHN Principals Andy Downs, Jack Ameis and English department head Shelly Parks accompanied Peabody Program Director Maureen Moore in awarding Manfull. Manfull was nominated for the award by a publications parent, Karen McDonald.
“I think he’s a really inspiring teacher and gets the best of his students,” McDonald said. “He makes his students want to be their best.”
Peabody nominates 33 educators in our area, including Manfull, for the title of Educator of the Year. The winner of that award is given and additional $5,000, throws out the first pitch at the Cardinals game, and an is interviewed on KMOX radio.
“I think it’s awesome that he got it,” junior Sam Skaggs said. “He deserves this, he put’s in a lot of work, and it’s nice to see people giving back to him.”
