The FHN Varsity hockey teams was defeated 1-4 by Central on Feb 11 at the Lindenwood Ice Arena. Central will continue on to the semi-finals of the Whickenheiser Cup. North will end their season with 8-16-3.
The Knights started off strong by scoring the first goal of the game and the period. Sophomore Tyler McAtee scored the goal with 1:04 with assists by Adam Dempski and Cody Pingleton.
Central scored two goals in the second period to bring them ahead of the Knights.
The Spartans followed up their second period success with another two goals in the third period.
FHC and FHN were in the same bracket in the Whickenheiser Cup, advancement depends on a 2 out of 3 victory. Central beat North on the 7 in the first game of the bracket. If North had won the game a 10 minute mini-game would have followed. If the mini-game was tied they would have advanced to a shootout.
