McDonald’s has finally said goodbye to its dollar menu and hello to the new “Dollar Menu and More.” I think it’s about time we see a change in the menu not only, because I get bored with the same old items on the menu, but also because they needed to add new flavors to keep the customers coming.
Fast food chains have never been fond of the dollar menu, but it won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. There are certainly some major changes being made to it now, though. Joining McDonald’s with its changes in menu is Wendy’s with its new “Right Price, Right Size” menu and Burger King’s “King Deals Value Menu.”
Not only are these companies taking away some items, but they have added several new items. With the new items also comes new prices. At McDonald’s, these new items include the BBQ Ranch Burger, the Grilled Onion Cheddar Burger, and the Bacon Buffalo Ranch McChicken. These items will be joining the double cheeseburger “McDouble”, which will be staying on the menu.In addition to the food, the shakes and sodas have also been reduced in size so they can be sold for a dollar.
According to an article in Time Magazine, fast food chains have always had a love-hate relationship with the dollar menu; on one hand, they love the customers it brings to their door, but in reality, it’s been more of a loss because the sales they make from the dollar menu leave them with little to no profit.
