The NHS induction ceremony will be held on Feb. 26 in the auditorium for sophomores and juniors with a GPA of 3.75 or higher. Class officers will also be picked.
“I feel like it’s such an honor to get accepted into NHS,” sophomore Madi Oostendorp said. “It shows that you’re a good student, not only in grades, but in character, also.”
To get accepted into NHS, eligible sophomores must fill out an application. From there, if accepted, they received a congratulations letter attached to another form which is filled out with their name and other necessary criteria. This year, the required question was, “If your life was a reality TV show, what would it be?”
“I said my TV show would be called Mathis Sitcom because I’m funny, at least I think I am,” sophomore Brittany Mathis said.
Not only is it an honor for a student to be accepted into NHS, but some parents take pride in telling others that their son or daughter got accepted into it.
“I love going around and telling people how Madi got accepted into NHS because it really shows what kind of person she is,” Madi’s mom Angie Oostendorp said. “She’s always worked so hard in school. To be a good student and a caring person, and I think getting accepted into NHS is a perfect way to reward someone like that.”
