The annual North Street Coffeehouse is Feb. 27-28 in the Learning Commons. Students and
administrators are welcome to attend, and anyone is invited to watch the livestream of performances on FHNtoday.com. Auditions were Feb. 4 before school and Feb. 6 after school, due to inclimate weather. Students could sign up and audition in the Learning Commons.
“It is awesome,” Media Specialist Angie Davis said. “Most people just love it.”
A wide range of abilities and talents are presented to make Coffeehouse successful. Artistry that has been performed in past years includes original music, skits, humorous or duo interpretation, storytelling, original or favorite poetry, music, and public speaking.
“We make sure there is a balance of mood and tone,” Davis said. “A little bit up and down.”
Complimentary cookies, hot chocolate, and coffee will be available at the Coffeehouse. The Coffeehouse requires planning in advance and money to supply the food and drinks.
“I like everything about it,” Davis said. “It’s worth it. I get excited when we do the planning.”
Coffeehouse was started by previous FHN librarian Sherri Pogue, who thought the idea of having students perform and embrace their talents would be a great new tradition to showcase at FHN.
“I am excited about seeing all the performances this year,” senior Wyatt Eagen.
Similar to last year, there will be emcees. There will also be a live artist who will create art that will be displayed in the Learning Commons. Davis hopes students leave with more of an appreciation of art in general and particularly the written and spoken word.
“I’m always amazed by all the talent,” Davis said.
