On Thursday Feb. 27, Nike released the long awaited KD 6 Aunt Pearl. Being someone who loves floral shoes, the KD6 Aunt Pearl is a perfect shoe. The Aunt Pearl series of Kevin Durant’s signature sneaker line is one of the more
popular KD yearly releases. Honoring Kevin Durant’s late Aunt Pearl, who passed away in 2000 due to lung cancer, the Aunt Pearl is meant to raise awareness of the ongoing battle with women’s cancer.
The KD 6 Aunt Pearl is lined with a pink floral upper that is supposed to represent a similar pattern that was printed on a robe that Kevin Durant’s aunt wore. The shoe also features a white midsole, pink sole, and blue highlights across the shoe that help add contrasting detail that makes the sneaker pop. The tongue features the Kay Yow Cancer Fund logo, the organization that is helping to raise awareness and fight the battle against women’s cancer. Proceeds from this shoe will help fund the organization.
The KD 6 Aunt Pearl is a killer sneaker and was definitely a great way to end off the month of amazing sneaker releases. The shoe also has a great story behind it, which is always a plus. These are no longer in stock in stores, but are now available on aftermarket. You can find a pair on Ebay or famed sneaker consignment shop Flight Club. These shoes are definitely worth checking out.
