This Sunday, March 9, the track team had planned to host a dodgeball tournament at FHN. However, due to a lack of participants, the
event has been cancelled.
“I really hoped students would sign up to [the tournament] because it’s dodgeball,” tournament sponsor Jenelle Bauer-Louis said. “We just didn’t have enough students sign up for it.”
All of the teams who had already signed up will be reimbursed for their entry fee. Participants like Sam Ritchie are disappointed because they won’t be able to participate in this event. Dodgeball is not a normally school-sanctioned sport.
“This is going to be a disappointment to the rest of the team,” Ritchie said. “We were looking forward to playing because we love this game, and it’s a shame we can’t play it normally in school.”
The tournament was going to be held in the large gym from 10 a.m. to around 4 p.m. The tournament was going to serve as a fundraiser to help the track team purchase more equipment for their upcoming season.
“I wanted to give the students something they can’t do in P.E. class,” Bauer-Louis said. “We just have to hope that next year, if we get the info out earlier, that more students will participate.”
