Fraufest is the annual school-wide concert put on by the German Club. German teacher and German Club sponsor Anne “Frau” McPartland puts on the show
every year. Many people describe Fraufest as a way to show students talents in a fun way for everyone.
1. What is your name?
“Vanessa Taylor.”
2. Who are you performing with at Fraufest?
“I am performing a few songs by myself, but am also performing with my friend Addison Eaker.”
3. How many years have you been involved with Fraufest?
“This is my second year performing.”
4. What interested you and your in performing in Fraufest?
“I performed last year, and it was a lot of fun. Plus Fraufest is just a good opportunity to sing and show your talent in some way. It’s a fun time with a group too, and I just want to show other people what German music is like.”
5. Why do you guys like to perform for people?
“Over all it is just a lot of fun. We just think its fun putting on a show for people and seeing how they react. Showing people our music that we work really hard on too is another big reason we do shows for people.”
6. How did you start singing?
“I have been singing for a long time, actually. When I was little, I always wanted to be a singer, so I guess when I first moved here from Germany I joined choir. Once I was in it, I loved performing for people.”
7. What do you think makes your act different from other peoples acts?
“I sing in German, and I know not many people do. I also get to perform in two different ways; by myself and with a friend.
8. What made you interested in being in music?
“I guess just starting out really young and being around it all the time. Also, listening to other artists and wanting to be just like them.”
9. What are some songs people can look forward to to seeing in the show or can you describe your bands act?
“I will be performing a German song and an American song by myself. They are called ‘Zerissen’ by Julie and ‘What You Don’t Know’ by Monrose. With my friend, I will be performing ‘Shake It Out’ by Florence [+ Machine].”
10. What do you hope to accomplish in the future?
“I just want to have a bright future. Basically, go to college for four years or more. After that, just see where life takes me.”
