The Francis Howell North girls track team started their season off with practice on Monday, March 10th. With their first meet on March 29th at Fort Zumwalt West, the athletes are preparing with hard workouts and recovery days so that they don’t push themselves too hard. They also do ab workouts after every practice to help them get more in shape.
“I am excited to be around all of the people on the team and the coaches,” Sophomore Nicole Morse said. “I think the team is going to do great this year, I can’t wait to see how we compare to other schools. I’m also excited to see everyone improve throughout the season.”
According to Morse, some of the team goals are to win JV and Varsity conference. With a total of fifteen meets and the quick season ending at the end of May for people that make it to state, the team works hard right away in order to achieve their goals.
“My personal goal would be to try as hard as I can and make it to state,” Sophomore Kristen Metts said. “As a team, our goals are to work hard together and make it to state as a team. I think our team is going to do very good this year, its only two weeks into the season and everyone is already so determined to do their best.”
The first track meet is the Mock Trial on March 29th at Fort Zumwalt West. After that, some upcoming meets include the freshman and JV meet at Timberland on April 1, a meet at FHN on April 4, and the Varsity Timberland meet on April 12.
