On Wednesday, March 12, the varsity girls basketball team hosted the Fort Zumwalt West Jaguars at Lindenwood University in a sectional game. The winner of this game would move on to face the winner of Hazelwood Central/St.Joseph’s game in the Class 5 quarterfinal at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Lindenwood.
The Knights lead after the first quarter by the score of 18-11, and also going into the half by the score of 31-29. However, the Jaguars overtook the Knights in the third quarter, leading by 9, with the score being 46-55. Fort Zumwalt West only added to their score in the fourth quarter with 24 points compared to FHN’s 18. The final score was 64-79, with FZW on top.
Sophomore Austine Pauley lead the Knights in scoring with 29. Following in points was senior Madison Gillam with 13 points, and senior Paige Pauley with 9 points. Fort Zumwalt’s points leaders were Lexi Moe with 20, Jada Poland with 16, Natalie Washington with 15, and Emily McCullough with 13. (photos by matt krieg)
