Tuesday March 25 the Varsity Boys Volleyball team is back on the court for their season opener against Fort Zumwalt North. It will also be the Knights home opener.
“The game was suppose to be an away game and was switched to a home game,” senior Jimmy Higgins said. “You always play better when you have the crowd behind you.”
The Knights come into the season with high expectations as they are ranked third in the state in the preseason poll. The Knights look to turn around from a 14-13 season from last year.
“I think that the big pre season standing will work for and against us,” senior co captain Logan Bergman said. “We are definitely the team to beat but at the same time it puts a lot on our shoulders and gives us big shoes to fill.”
The Knights are lead by a large senior presence with 8 seniors on the team. Senior Jimmy Higgins believes it will be the play of their junior setter Adam Rogan is what will set the Knights apart in this game.
“I feel that he [Rogan] will really benefit the team because he always comes to the court ready to play,” senior middle hitter Ethan Bond said.
The Knights are a favorite in this one as Fort Zumwalt North is not ranked coming into the season. The Knights won the previous meeting against the Jaguars last season.
After Tuesday night’s season opener the Knights are home against the Fort Zumwalt South Bulldogs on March 27.
