Cav Empt is low-key killing it right now, and the majority of the streetwear world is completely oblivious. Cav Empt or “Caveat Emptor,” latin for “Let the buyer beware,” was started back in 2011 by Sk8thing, a name that will ring a bell for any streetwear enthusiast, and Toby Feltwell, former chief of staff over at NOWHERE Co. Ltd. Cav Empt has grown to be one of my favorite brands, and I can see them taking the streetwear world by storm in the coming seasons. Offering what looks to be a mix of a 90s “early internet” style and current day streetwear, Cav Empt easily takes the cake for being one of the most original brands out there.
Sk8thing and Toby Feltwell’s designs are just the icing on the cake, as the pieces themselves use unique materials or styles that deviate from the norm. For example, take a look at Cav Empt’s “Turtleneck Tee” shirt, which is exactly what it sounds like, a tee with a turtleneck. While it’s not something that I could see myself wearing, I see the creative thoughts behind it and why it could work for someone. Another Cav Empt piece that really just amazes me is the PVC coaches jacket. The jacket is made out of a see through PVC material and features Cav Empt’s Signature “Pre Cog” graphic on the back.
While Cav Empt has yet to see many collaborative efforts, the ones that have released are top notch, such as the “Beauty and Youth” capsule collection. The capsule featured a long-sleeve tee, button-up shirt, jacket, hat, and sweatshirt, all featuring the same simple, yet interesting graphic.
While the prices may turn away potential customers, it’s definitely worth it. It goes without saying that Cav Empt’s quality is amazing; what else would you expect from the men who have been integral parts to brands like Billionaire Boys Club or A Bathing Ape? From personal experience, these pieces are some of the best I’ve handled, quality wise, which to me definitely warrants the price.
