ANNOUNCEMENTS | ||||||||||||
Dear Francis Howell District Parents,
You can help to prepare your student for testing in several important ways. First of all, please make every effort to ensure that your student is in attendance on the days the tests are administered so that he/she takes the tests under the most optimum conditions. Secondly, please make sure that your student gets plenty of sleep and eats a good breakfast before coming to school so that he/she is both mentally and physically alert during testing. Finally, and most importantly, please encourage your child to put his/her best effort into the test so that the information gained is an accurate reflection of your child’s achievement.
The results gathered from these tests are critical measures of the district’s effectiveness in educating our students. These results are used at the district and building levels to evaluate program effectiveness, determine areas of instructional focus and prioritize instructional resources for school improvement planning. Test results will be available to parents before the end of this school year.
Our students have demonstrated consistent growth over the past several years. We are very proud of the efforts of our students, parents and teachers in sustaining this positive trend and we look forward to another year of increased improvement as we begin the 2014 testing window. Thank you for supporting your student during this year’s testing. 5/6 Downs
With the weather turning cooler, we are reminded that winter will be here before long, including the frozen white stuff (snow) that is both looked forward to and dreaded. This is a reminder that we have snow days built into our school calendar, and we request that vacations not be scheduled on these days when we may have school to make up for missed days due to snow or other inclement weather.
