The FHSD Centennial Parade will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. The parade will take place in Cottleville and will start at Warren Elementary and end at Francis Howell Central High School. Following the conclusion of the parade, FHSD will be holding Food and Fun in the Park in Cottleville’s Legacy Park, where families will be able to indulge in a variety of delicious options from food truck vendors, as well as enjoy provided entertainment. FHSD hopes that spectators will also find the time to visit many of the fine businesses and restaurants in the Cottleville community. Volunteers will be needed before, during and after the parade in various areas such as parade marshals, set-up, clean-up, staging, Legacy Park, alumni coordination, t-shirts, etc. Click here to sign up and volunteer.

The Francis Howell School District’s strategic committees work year-round to support student learning. There are many active community members and parents who work with teachers and administrators on student learning, finance, human resources, facilities, technology, and community relations. We invite you to review what the District strategic committees have been working on over the course of the 2013-14 school year and see the mid-year strategic plan updates. If you are interested in serving on one of the District’s committees, please review the committee descriptions and fill out the application. You can help to prepare your student for testing in several important ways. First of all, please make every effort to ensure that your student is in attendance on the days the tests are administered so that he/she takes the tests under the most optimum conditions. Secondly, please make sure that your student gets plenty of sleep and eats a good breakfast before coming to school so that he/she is both mentally and physically alert during testing. Finally, and most importantly, please encourage your child to put his/her best effort into the test so that the information gained is an accurate reflection of your child’s achievement.
The results gathered from these tests are critical measures of the district’s effectiveness in educating our students. These results are used at the district and building levels to evaluate program effectiveness, determine areas of instructional focus and prioritize instructional resources for school improvement planning. Test results will be available to parents before the end of this school year.
Our students have demonstrated consistent growth over the past several years. We are very proud of the efforts of our students, parents and teachers in sustaining this positive trend and we look forward to another year of increased improvement as we begin the 2014 testing window. Thank you for supporting your student during this year’s testing. 5/6 Downs What are you doing for Dinner on Tuesday, May 6th?
