On April 22, The FHN varsity baseball team hosted the Fort Zumwalt West Jaguars. FHN’s record as of gameday was 4-12. FZW’s record was 15-7. The Jaguars had won five games in a row coming into the game.
Kevin Braudis was North’s starting pitcher. In the top of the 1st, Braudis gave up two runs. In the top of the 2nd, two batters were hit by a pitch. With two outs in the inning, men were on first and third, but no runs were able to score. FHN was not able to score through two innings. In the top of the 3rd, a line drive hit back up the middle hit Braudis in the ankle. Braudis was able to recover the ball in time and threw to first base. However, the throw sailed into right field. The batter ended up at third, but was not able to score. At the end of inning, the score was 4-0. The Knights were able to load the bases in the bottom of the 3rd. A wild pitch scored Cole Donaldson. After another walk, the bases were loaded for Dalton Scaggs. Scaggs hit a double to center field, and cleared the bases. The score was then 4-4. A bases loaded walk scored one for the Jaguars in the top of the 5th. Score then was 5-4. The Knights answered in the bottom half of the inning with two runs. In the top of the 5th, Ryan Dobey was the new pitcher for North. The Jaguars scored seven runs. Matt Philibaun was brought into pitch in the top of the 7th. FZW scored one more run. FHN was not able to score any other runs. The final score was 13-7.
Francis Howell North’s next game will be on Friday, April 25 against Fort Zumwalt East. Game time will be 4:15 p.m.
