Students in Mr. Ritchie’s Woodshop class work on a simple project where students learn the basics of woodworking by crafting a box.
“It’s an easy project,” Alex Burbank said. “We are just doing basic stuff like cutting boards, learning to fit them together, and stain properly.”
After, students have to cut boards in specific measurements and modify them to fit together, they carefully stain and finish the box to protect the wood.
“We have been working on it for about a week and a half and I think its fun,” Spencer Stevenson said.
Students also get to work together on the project for everything from shaving the wood down to size or working together with the power tools.
“My favorite part about it is that I get work with my friends on it,” said Stevenson.
