Over the summer of 2014, some spots at FHN will be being renovated.
The band room will be getting new carpeting and a garage door installed. According to Activities Director Mike Janes, he band room has needed these changes for some time. Getting a garage door put in will make transporting the equipment much easier on the students. For at least twenty years they’ve had to pack up all the equipment and transport it through the auditorium risking damaging it. Now, with the door being put in, all they will have to do is load it up right outside the classroom, reducing the risk of broken equipment.
“I think it’s over due,” Janes said “The convenience of bringing out the equipment and not having to carry it would make it a lot easier. You wouldn’t disrupt other classrooms when you go through.”
The exact time these changes will be made is not definite yet, but they’re hoping to have it done by the start of the next school year.
“The garage door has been tried before by the previous director, but to no avail,” Band teacher Jeffrey Moorman said “The Double door outside is going to be a god send for our Pit members who have been going through the auditorium for over 20 years.”
According to band members, the band room has also been in need of new carpeting for the last few years.
“I am happy about these changes because the carpets are really gross,” junior band member Emily Turnbeaugh said “And it’ll be nice to have a change and little look better.”
In addition to the carpeting and doors in the band room, the auditorium lobby was recently cleaned and repainted.
